Why are Dutch children so happy?

Here's an article, originally from the BBC, on one of the subjects we were looking at in class today, and will be looking at tomorrow. SO what do you think? Are the Netherlands a role model whose example the rest of Europe should be following? Could the same be said of Spanish children as is said here of Dutch children (or as is said of English children for that matter)? Why not make a comment after you have read it?

  1. I think that the rest of Europe have not to follow the example of Netherland. Every country in Europe is different and what works in Neherland maybe would not work here in Catalonia. I think it is not a good idea try to copy the way netherlanders educate their children, but it would be good to get some ideas and try to modify and adapt them according to the way we are and we live in Catalonia.

  2. In my opinion, happiness is conditioned for many issues and they´re good ones: to have a high level educational system; the chance than mothers could be with their children and afterwards to find a good job, to have a good health system. These conditionants are not totally given in the Third World countries like mine, but we do the best to breed our children in a happy environment, according to our culture and beliefs. Of course, we´d like to have better conditions in everything, especially for our children, and there can be no doubt that we have to work to achieve them, but meanwhile we and our children are living and we have to live the better we could, maybe not in happiness but close to it
