This is an interesting debate which will probably simply be decided by the government. As it's the ConDems in power and they are all fabulously wealthy it won't worry them if the fees are enormous. Of course universities like Cambridge and Oxford will continue to lobby for money to keep their elitist position in the academic world.
I am not really sure what they mean in this video by "poorer students" How poor do you have to be to be counted as such?
Perhaps more and more people will opt to go straight into careers without a degree and then try and get one while they are working, for example via the Open University or perhaps we will find a situation where Big Business companies start to take people on straight from school with the promise of paying for them to go through university.
